Come to play! Come to hike! Explore and create in a beautiful setting that fosters the imagination! We will be outside using our senses to delve into the nature centers’ woods, marsh and prairie. We’ll investigate some of the animals that call Westwood home and meet the puppets. Each session has a different theme so sign up for one or all three! Choose either the morning OR afternoon session.

Nature Arts and Crafts Camp

Explore your creative side! Join us to create masterpieces using materials and ideas found in and inspired by the woods, marsh and prairie of Westwood. Bring home works of art to share with your family.

What’s the biggest thing you can see with your own eyes? What’s the smallest? From stars and planets to tiny pond critters, this camp will take you on a tour of all that is big and small.

Mystery Camp

Help! The raccoon puppet has gone missing and he needs your help! Spend the day solving the mystery of the missing raccoon as we unlock clues and secret messages to bring him back home to the puppet theater!

Live Animal Meet and Greet Camp

Come visit Westwood’s reptiles and amphibians close-up and hands-on. There will be an opportunity to touch some of these critters and observe them as they eat.

Predator Prey

Tu, Aug. 1, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Grades 5 – 8 (2017 – 2018 School Year)

Eat or be eaten! Predator and Prey is a thrilling chase game played on the nature center trails. Each team will need to use stealth, speed and strategy to survive. Be prepared for lots of running and lots of fun.

Archery Camp

Here’s your chance to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow or get some more time on the range to enhance your skills! Instruction will be given on proper technique and range safety. There will be a 10-minute hike to get to and from our range.

That’s Gross Camp

Explore the stinky, slimy and gross side of nature. From scat and mud to worms and decomposition, we will be on a quest to find anything that makes us squirm and say ew!

Hard Rock Camp

All of Westwood’s camps rock, but this is the first camp about rocks! You see rocks every day, but how much do you really know about them? What are they made out of? How did
they get there? There is a lot more to rocks than just being hard, and we’ll explore this both inside and on the trails.

Safari Escapade

Wild animals are everywhere at Westwood! Venture into different habitats in search of wildlife. We’ll use nets, scopes, binoculars and more to find and observe many of the fascinating creatures that make their home in the park.

Nature Theater Arts

Places everyone, places! We will combine nature-themed activities with the world of drama. Kids will create and act in their own play.  We will have plenty of time to practice, but also make sure to have fun outside by the pond and in the woods. Performances will be on Thursday, Aug. 10 from 3 – 4 p.m.

How Animals Grow

Obviously animals grow up, but how? Learn about the life cycles of different animals by playing games, meeting live animals, exploring outdoors, reading stories and watching Westwood’s silly puppets.

Wild About Animals

Snakes, turtles, frogs and more! We’ll have the chance to take Westwood’s animals out from behind the glass, touch them, feed them and learn how to responsibly care for them. We will also search for animals in their natural habitat.

Plants are Way Cooler Than Animals

You eat plants, you wear plants, and you probably live in something made out of plants. Not only are they important to us, many of them are fascinating and fun. We’ll spend some time outside tracking down cool plants at Westwood and discover what makes them interesting.
